Patanol How To Take

Patanol should be used only for allergic conditions. It is not a remedy for irritation from contact lenses. Do not use any eyedrop that is discolored or has particles in it. Do not touch the dropper to any surface, including your eyes or hands. The dropper is sterile. If it becomes contaminated, it could cause an infection in your eye. Apply light pressure to the inside corner of your eye (near your nose) after each drop to prevent the fluid from draining down your tear duct. When applying the eyedrops, be careful to avoid touching the eyelids with the dropper tip. This could contaminate the solution. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down on your lower eyelid. Position the dropper above your eye. Look up and away from the dropper. Squeeze out a drop and close your eye. Apply gentle pressure to the inside corner of your eye (near your nose) for about 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining down your tear duct. If you are using more than one drop in the same eye, repeat the process with about 5 minutes between drops. Patanol is usually applied twice a day with 6 to 8 hours between doses. Follow your doctor's instructions. Do not wear soft contact lenses while the eyes are red. At other times, wait at least ten minutes after applying Patanol before inserting the lenses. The usual dose is 1 drop in each affected eye 2 times a day. Allow 6 to 8 hours between doses.

Patanol Side Effects

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe to continue using Patanol. Most common side effect is headache (occurs in 7 percent of patients).
